Vice President Kamala Harris was mocked for unveiling a “new accent” while speaking at the Congressional Black Caucus on Saturday.
The vice president could be heard speaking in a southern-like accent, as reported by Fox News.
At the beginning of her speech, Harris gave a shout-out to her “Divine Nine brothers and sisters.”
“Hello to all of my Divine Nine brothers and sisters,” the vice president said during the event in Washington, D.C. “And to all my HBCU brothers and sisters.”
On X, Resist the Mainstream shared the clip of Harris speaking at the event.
“Kamala Harris once again FAKES a southern black accent,” Resist the Mainstream wrote.
The prominent conservative account “End Wokeness” reacted to the clip, writing, “BREAKING: Kamala Harris unveils a new accent at the Black Caucus Dinner.”
Conservative commentator Joey Mannarino called Harris’ accent “fake” and criticized the vice president over her choice of clothing for the event.
“Aside from the fake Black accent, what the f*ck is she wearing?” Mannarino wrote.
Conservative commentator JD Rucker also jumped in the conversation, saying Kamala Harris uses fake accents to “pander” to her audience.
“There’s a sickness in this world and especially in this country. It’s a strong delusion that makes otherwise lucid people become completely oblivious to the various psyops around them. Nothing exemplifies this better than the fact that Kamala Harris is still in office, let alone performing better than expected in her presidential run,” Rucker wrote.
“We watch her making up fake accents to pander to whichever audience is in front of her. We hear her word salads and are amused. We rarely hear her policies but when we do we are either annoyed that she stole them from Donald Trump or aghast that she stole them form (sic) Joe Biden. Common sense tells us she should be losing this election by historical margins. But she isn’t. At least that’s what we’re being told,” he added.
Rucker went on to call Harris’ accent a “doozy” and a “never-ending nightmare.”
Internet sensation Collin Rugg also commented on the matter.
“NEW: Kamala Harris brings out her new accent at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 2024 Phoenix Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C.,” Rugg wrote.
“Hello to all my divine … brothas and sistas … and my soro …’ Kamala has brought out this new accent throughout the campaign at different times,” Rugg added.
Notably, Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy confronted White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on the matter, per Fox News.
“Since when does the vice president have what sounds like a Southern accent?” Doocy asked.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Jean-Pierre replied.
“Well, she was talking about unions in Detroit using one tone of voice,” Doocy pressed. “She used the same line in Pittsburg, and it sounded like she at least had some kind of a Southern drawl.”
“I mean, do you hear the question … I mean do you think Americans seriously think that this is an important question?” Jean-Pierre asked. “They care — you know what they care about? They care about the economy. They care about lowering costs. They care about healthcare. That’s what Americans care about …”
