Gavin Newsom Says the DNC Made Him Say Kamala Harris’s Nomination Was an ‘Open Process’

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) admitted that the Democratic National Committee (NDC) told him to say that Vice President Kamala Harris’s presidential nomination came by way of an “open process” despite the vice president not having received any votes.

President Joe Biden, who garnered millions of votes in the Democratic presidential primary, dropped out of the race for the White House amid pressure from high-ranking Democrats.

As a result, Harris eventually took over and became Biden’s replacement without participating in any primary.

On Friday, Newsom said the quiet part out loud.

“I’ve been told to say” that Harris’s nomination process was “a very open process, a very inclusive process,” Newsom said on a leftist podcast.

As Breitbart News noted, the Democratic Party, which attributes itself as the “party of democracy,” did the opposite, having forced out a duly elected presidential candidate and replacing him with someone who did not receive any votes.

“We went through a very open process, a very inclusive process,” Newsom said. “It was bottom-up, I don’t know if you know that. That’s what I’ve been told to say.”

Many conservatives rebuked Newsom over his comments.

Journalist Glen Greenwald criticized the Democratic Party, noting that its nomination of Harris demonstrated the exact opposite of a democratic process.

“The Party of Democracy sits around guffawing at how anti-democratic and vote-free and secret was their process for choosing and then imposing the new Democratic presidential nominee on the country,” Greenwald said.

“Gavin Newsom knows the Harris nomination was a top-down coup, and they’re all cynical about it,” another critic said. “Is this the ‘democracy’ they want to save? What a sick joke on their own supporters and this country.”

The CEO of the Institute for Black Solidarity with Israel, Dumisani Washington, also slammed Newsom and the Democratic Party.

“The party always screaming about DEI and White privilege love using DEI to flaunt their White privilege,” Washington said. “Isn’t screwing over the voters funny?”

On Thursday, Harris was officially crowned the Democratic presidential candidate. The vice president delivered her speech at the DNC, which mostly centered on her challenger — former President Donald Trump — instead of the issues grappling Americans, such as inflation.

Harris repeated falsehoods about the former president and lied about his support for the radical proposal by the Heritage Foundation — Project 2025.

“We know what a second Trump term would look like,” Harris said. “It’s all laid out in Project 2025, written by his closest advisers, and its sum total is to pull our country back to the past. But America, we are not going back.”

Project 2025 is a blueprint that guides future conservative presidents on how to govern effectively. It was launched in April 2023 but is not linked to the former president or his campaign.

Following Harris’s speech, Trump spoke with Fox News, reiterating that he does not endorse Project 2025.

“They know I have nothing to do with it,” the former president said. “I have no idea what it was. A group of people got together. They drew up some conservative values, very conservative values, and in some case, perhaps they went over the line. Perhaps they didn’t. I have no idea what Project 2025 is.”
